Think Progress has issues with reporting the truth…

If you watched the Republican debates last night you were probably shocked to hear a person from the audience scream “Yes” when Republican candidate Ron Paul was asked whether or not a person without insurance deserved to die. Judging by the look on the Congressman’s face he was also, especially with his past history of being a physician.

Paul went on to answer the question, pointing out that even in the past, when there was no such thing as medicare or medicaid, people were rarely denied treatment. A statement that rings true of his own medical pratice, having treated disadavantaged people without ever asking for a single thing in return.

In the Congressman’s own words from his book The Revolution : A Manifesto” …….

In the days before Medicare and Medicaid, the poor and elderly were admitted to hospitals at the same rate they are now, and received good care. Before those programs came into existence, every physician understood that he or she had a responsibility towards the less fortunate and free medical care was the norm. Hardly anyone is aware of this today, since it doesn’t fit into the typical, by the script story of government rescuing us from a predatory private sector.

Despite this, Think Progress wants it’s readers to believe that Ron Paul wants people without insurance to die for the cause of freedom, whatever the hell that means. I’m really not sure why they would write something so completely stupid, do they honestly believe that Ron Paul ran off the stage and screamed “YES” from the audience floor immediately after Wolf Blitzer asked the question, then leaped back on stage to pretend it never happened? Right….
